    Top Tips for Business Success

Interview with Jeanne Treloar from Witch Words

    Natalie

“What inspired you become an entrepreneur?”

    Jeanne

I saw a need in the community for a designer who really connected with their clients in a personal way. I was tired of working behind the scenes in design studios and not having connection with my clients. I realised that I had a lot to offer and a gift of intuition, so I launched Witch Words with the intent of providing a simple, step by step process that would allow my clients to express their true passion through their branding, and to show them that creating a brand and all the elements that go with it, like websites, brochures, facebook graphics and business cards, isn’t as scary or complicated as they think.”

    Natalie

“What were some of your initial challenges (eg getting your message out there, publicity, finding direction, finding clients, money, budgetting)?”

    Jeanne

My biggest challenge was courage, having the guts to step out and give it a go, trusting my intuition – that was scary! money was the next challenge, it’s scary starting up a new business and giving up a regular salary, but i was blessed to have the support of my husband. Of course finding clients was another challenge but I decided early on that my market were local small business women so networking regularly became a priority. It is still a priority and it must be done with grace so that you build relationships and foster strong connections, I couldn’t do the hard sell if my life depended on it! Finding direction comes with the growth of business, no business stays static, and although Witch Words started off being about writing and editing it’s taken on a life of its own and evolved into focusing more on design and branding. My first love! Now my biggest challenge is maintaining balance and managing my busy-ness, learning to delegate and outsourcing.”

    Natalie

“What do you know now that you wish you knew back then?”

    Jeanne

I wish I knew how goddam brilliant it feels to have your own successful business! I’d have done it a lot sooner.”

    Natalie

“Why do you think the  NetConnect Seminar is always a huge success and why have you agreed to be involved?”

    Jeanne

Net connect is close to my heart, it was my very first platform for publicly speaking to a large group and I love the energy of the event. Its a great day to connect, learn and network. The women that NetConnect attracts are the intuitive, successful inspired ones who I love to surround myself with”.

    Natalie

What are your 3 top tips to creating a successful solo business?”

    Jeanne

    1. Find your tribe, the people you feel most comfortable with and hang out with them.
    2. Nurture strong relationships with your clients and tribe.
    3. Be honest, up-front and real.
