  • “Clearing Clutter”

They say a cluttered environment equals a cluttered mind. I love an orderley home and office space and find that I function at my fullest when everything is in it’s place, neat and tidy. Do I sound like a control freak?

Having recently moved home I thought I did a fair bit of culling, well I know I did because there were numerous wheelie bins filled and ute loads to the rubbish tip done and many things given away. Yet there still is so much stuff still sitting in places were they are not meant to be sitting!

So today I started with my office, the place where I tend to spend the most of my time. Surveying the piles of files and boxes of things sitting haphazardly around my desk I decided I needed a big tall cupboard to store all this stuff, yes I do need it!

A quick trip to the furniture shop, the cupboard has been put together, not by me as furniture assembly is not my strong point, and I have spent over 4 hours re arranging, throwing out yet another wheelie bin of rubbish, finding hidden treasures and building a little pile of gifts. I feel great!

My office is tidy, my mind is orderley again and I can’t wait for Monday to get started on all the new plans, ideas and events for Enlightened Goddesses in 2011.

The New Year is always a great time to get started on clearing and cleaning out (especially in this weather)and believe me once you get started it is hard to stop.  But the results are worth it.

So it appears “they” are right, a tidy environment equals a tidy and productive mind.

Is it time you spring cleaned?

  6. Hello Natalie,

I agree – the outside says a lot about your inside. It is also one of the first things any feng shui consultant will tell you.

Unfortunately I am a collector and it is really hard for me to throw things away. But I guess I will take your hint and do a spring clean – my office desperately needs it :)
